Working in harmony with the homeowners, Kevin Mitchell designed a polished layout using the wish list of his clients as a compass. Material selections were guided by Principal Designer Jason Miller, taking the space from proposal to finished interior.
Inspired by nature, this kitchen features the natural elements of travertine floors, rich marble columns, and the upgraded waterfall edge detail on the island. Natural light adds depth and dimension to any room in a house. It also complements the light and dark contrast of design elements and textiles.
With regards to pendant lighting, the rule of thumb is to display an odd number versus an even number. This will ensure that they are in proportion with other design elements in the room.
The two-toned cabinets lend themselves to a multi-dimensional viewpoint, which allows the eye to float throughout the entirety of the space. The quartz island with a waterfall edge adds a finished look to any cabinet. It’s very low maintenance and adds a visual element to the space.
The kitchen is a brilliant unity of modern function and form. The Blanco granite composite sink is a natural material that replaces the traditional stainless steel sink. The placement of the built-in microwave in the cabinet provides easy access and reach for all family members.
